Cost of post-9/11 wars: $4 trillion

Cost of post-9/11 wars: $4 trillion

Reuters/Baz Ratner
Canadian and U.S. army soldiers rest during a patrol in the Panjwai district of Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan on June 26.

A research group at Brown including “economists, anthropologists, political scientists, legal experts, and a physician” has tackled the always complex question of the costs of America‘s post-9/11 wars — economic, human, and political.

On the economic front, the team found that the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have cost $2.8 trillion since 2001. Add costs of medical care and benefits for veterans through 2050, and that number jumps to $3.7 trillion.

The team included some items — like $400 billion in increased “homeland security” spending after Sept. 11 — that are debatable as “costs of war.” But it left out other costs, such as future interest payments on debt incurred to pay for the wars, state and local government spending on veterans’ services, and the classified spending on the CIA drone program in Afghanistan.

A few other findings from the researchers on non-economic costs:

• While we know how many US soldiers have died in the wars (just over 6000), what is startling is what we don’t know about the levels of injury and illness in those who have returned from the wars.  New disability claims continue to pour into the VA, with 550,000 just through last fall.  Many deaths and injuries among US contractors have not been identified.

• At least 137,000 civilians have died and more will die in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan as a result of the fighting at the hands of all parties to the conflict.

• Millions of people have been displaced indefinitely and are living in grossly inadequate conditions.  The current number of war refugees and displaced persons — 7,800,000 — is equivalent to all of the people of Connecticut and Kentucky fleeing their homes.

A website for the project explains the researchers’ methodology and is definitely worth a look.

More convincing video of Jerusalem UFO comes to light

Source : Pakalert Press

Wake Up BD & Pakalert Press reported on an incredible UFO sighting along with accompanying video clip. The event occurred in Jerusalem at 1am on the Saturday morning. A UFO descended to the level of the Dome of the Rock/Temple Mount before zooming off skywards. Since we broke the story the Internet has buzzed with talk abut this sighting. Unconfirmed reports of other witnesses have surfaced, along with a third clip of the event that many believe is a hoax and a parody.
Now a fourth video of the event has surfaced. This video was supposedly taken by a group of Israelis visiting the Old City of Jerusalem.
The shown footage in this latest clip appears more substantially more convincing than the other clips.

Pakistan Air Force VS Israel Air Force

Source : Youtube

During the war 16 PAF pilots volunteered to go to the Middle East in order to support Egypt and Syria but by the time they arrived, Egypt had already been pushed into a ceasefire. Syria remained in a state of war against Israel. Eight (8) PAF pilots started flying out of Syrian Airbases; they formed the A-flight of 67 Squadron at Dumayr Airbase. The Pakistani pilots flew Syrian MiG-21 aircraft conducting CAP missions for the Syrians. Flt. Lt. A. Sattar Alvi became the first Pakistani pilot, during the Yom Kippur War, to shoot down an Israeli Mirage in air combat. He was honored by the Syrian government. Other aerial encounters involved Israeli F-4 Phantoms; Pakistan Air Force did not lose a single pilot or aircraft during this war. The Pakistani pilots stayed on in Syria until 1976, training Syrian pilots in the art of air warfare.
The then Pakistani & now Bangladeshi Ace Flight Lieutenant Saiful Azam has the unique distinction of having kills against air forces of two different countries. As a young Flying Officer during the 65 War, Saiful Azam scored a kill against an Indian Air Force Gnat, in recognition of which he was awarded Sitara-i-Jurat.

Two years later Saiful Azam became the first Pakistani pilot to score against the Israeli Air Force in the 1967 Arab-Israel war. He shot down a Vatour Bomber, a super Mystere, and a Mirage IIIC, all in only two missions thus raising his tally to four kills. To-date he remains the highest shooter of Israeli aircraft in history of dogfight.

He has been highly decorated with gallantry awards by both Jordan and Iraq for his extraordinary display of skill and courage. He retired as a Group Captain from Bangladesh Air Force. In 2001, he was honoured by the United States Air Force (USAF) and enjoys the status of being one of the twenty two ‘Living Eagles’ of the world.
1983 Pakistan got 28 F-16 from USA under Peace Gate 1 and when Pakistani Pilots reached there for training of F-16 USAF Instactor didnt constrate on Paki Pilots.. but Paki Pilots Proved they are well professional USAF had to implement their best instructors with PAF’s Pilots and they said there is Best Airforce in World as Israel Airforce and Now Pakistan Airforce as well
PAF has to many record Holding in fighter flying maximum kills in a Mission SQL M.M.ALAM lowest level Role over 9G and many others.
